The children were very enthusiastic and it was a pleasure to work with them at the Playdough Activity Station. - Loretta
I had a lot of fun painting the faces of the children. I was glad to have Hilary help me too. It was a very fun day! -Jennifer
The enthusiasm of the children making pinwheels and gluing seed-art wheels was contagious. I enjoyed seeing the different patterns they created with the seeds and the colours of the pinwheels varied in their tones and combinations. The children enjoyed the fruit plate as well.

Spool knitting was something a lot of adults did as children and we think they got as much of a "kick" out of their kids learning as the kids did. This was geared to older children as the young ones didn't have the patience of manual dexterity to do it. Knitting needles work best for pulling the stitches over the pins. Two people were definitely needed to teach participants. Teaching the parents who then could help the kids is a good idea. The booklet handout showing the instructions and ideas for finished items was a good idea. Having beads, yarn needles, etc. was a great idea. Linda, Dawn
The crayon rubbing and tissue flower station was well attended. Mothers and grandmothers, fathers and grandfathers helped the children "fan" out the flowers. The children enjoyed picking out different colors to make their flowers. The crayon rubbing section was a hit with the kids lining up to get a chance to try their hand at making a card. Thank you, from Lorraine.
Origami, double happiness and fortune cookies were enjoyed by over 60 people. Children enjoyed giving a hug to Panda.

I made over 60 multicolored cookies. I don't want to make cookies anymore.

What a great turnout. 25 adults and 53 children participated in the nine stations for over two hours. Nine families of ethnic origin visited the library for the first time. These families were from East India, Philipines, and Columbia. It's difficult to say which station was busiest. This is a difficult question to answer as all the stations were busy. All staff had the opportunity to interact with our clients and they enjoyed the event. George Bowditch, a reporter from Booster covered the event. Family litearcy just happens naturally in the community classroom or the hub: the PUBLIC LIBRARY.
